Golmaal 3 (Hindi: गोलामा तीन) is a 2008 Hindi comedy film directed by Rohit Shetty. It is the third instalment of the Golmaal series. After a trial screening, it was identified as a "hit" at the box office and went on to become one of Bollywood's highest-grossing films in 2008. The film set a then-record for the opening weekend collections for any Bollywood movie, collecting approximately Rs 85 million from 425 screens in India alone on its first day, earning more than its predecessors Golmaal and Golmaal 2 combined. It was the highest opening weekend collection for a Bollywood film up until that point and was later surpassed by Chennai Express and 3 Idiots respectively. The film went on to become one of the biggest hits of all time in India, breaking numerous records in the process. The movie opens with a thief named Raja (Vikas Verma) attempting to rob a bank, but he gets caught in the process by Prem (Tusshar Kapoor). Prem then figures out that Raja is none other than his own long-lost brother who had disappeared after their parents' death. After reconciling, Prem decides to help Raja change his ways and set him up with a job. Raja comes across Shruti (Deepika Padukone) after Prem sets them up. Prem tricks her into thinking that Raja is his brother, and they begin to date. After some time, Prem admits that he has lied about Raja being his brother, but Shruti forgives him. The duo then decide to help Raja prove to his prospective employer that he is a changed man by helping him complete the tasks required for the job which includes the theft of an expensive statue, various other pranks, etc. At the end, Raja gets the job and is reunited with his family. He also learns that he had been adopted as a child by Prem, who returns home just then. The two brothers reunite with their parents before leaving for another adventure together.The film received generally positive reviews from critics, with praise for the comedy and performances of the lead cast. Some critics opined that there were too many similarities to other Bollywood comedies such as "Dil Chahta Hai". The film also received praise for its technical aspects, i.e., cinematography, music and editing. The film received a rating of 4 stars out of 5 from Bollywood Hungama and 3.5 stars out of 5 from Rediff.com, while it received a rating of 4 out of 5 from NDTV. The film was declared a blockbuster by Box Office India, becoming the top grosser in India in 2008 and earning Rs 280 million over its first weekend. It also entered the UK box office charts at #1 position in June 2009 during its third week after releasing on DVD there.
